catcher. Only two catchers in major league history have caught in more games.
Bob Boone is in second place with 2225. And Carlton ' Pudge' Fisk remains the all time leader in that category. Fisk caught in 2226 major league games. Ivan is 36 years old now and is currently hitting .276 with the Detroit Tigers. He is a 14 time All Star.
- Former New York Mets failure Kaz Matsui couldn' t be happier in Colorado. His batting average is up to .289 and he stole his career high 32nd base.
- Future Hall of Famer Jim Thome hit career home run # 502 and drove in his 92nd run of the season for the Chicago White Sox.
- Former Yankees superstar, Alfonso Soriano hit his 31st home run of the year for the Chicago Cubs. He has 65 rbi's; and his batting average is up to .297. He has 39
doubles and 19 stolen bases.
- 40 year old New York Mets left fielder, Moises Alou, continues to break his own major league record every game he gets a hit. On September 23rd, Moises extended his hitting streak to 27 games. That is the longest hitting streak in major league history ( so far )for any player over the age of 40. It is also the longest hitting streak in the major leagues this season for any player of any age.
- Future Yankees star, Jeff Karstens, was recently recalled from Triple A and picked up his first win of the season.
