April 16, 1940: Bob Feller of the Cleveland Indians; pitched the only opening day no hitter in major league history.

May 31, 1964: The Mets and the San Francisco Giants played the longest
doubleheader in major league history. Nine hours and 52 minutes. The second game went 23 innings and took seven hours and twenty three minutes.

May 31, 2008: Red Sox future Hall of Famer Manny Ramirez became only the seventh player in major league history with at least 500 home runs; at least 1500 rbi's; at least 1000 walks; 475 doubles; and a career batting average of at least .300.

May 17, 2008: Phillies centerfielder Jayson Werth became the 18th Phillies
player to hit 3 home runs in one game.

April 22, 2008: Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz became the 16th pitcher to
reach 3000 strikeouts.

June 28, 1910: Joe Tinker of the Cubs became the first player to steal home
twice in the same game.

July 3, 2008: Yankees will send Andrew Brackman; Darrell Rasner; Dellin

Betances; Scott Patterson; and Jose Tabata to Cleveland for C.C. Sabathia if
and only if Sabathia agrees to sign a 4 or 5 year contract extension with the Yankees

by July 30, 2008. It's a win win deal for both teams. Cleveland would be crazy to turn down a deal like this; and risk getting nothing for the free agent Sabathia. No team will make
him a better offer.
